SandboxAQ

SandboxAQ is a B2B technology company that emerged from Alphabet Inc. as an independent entity in 2022. The company develops AI and quantum (AQ) software solutions, with a focus on what it terms "Large Quantitative Models" (LQMs), targeting industries including life sciences, financial services, navigation, telecommunications, government, and cybersecurity.

In the cybersecurity domain, SandboxAQ addresses quantum threats to encrypted data, networks, communications, and infrastructure. A core area of focus is Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), helping organizations prepare for the cryptographic risks posed by future quantum computers capable of breaking current encryption standards.

This positions the company within the broader cybersecurity landscape around data protection and cryptographic resilience.

Beyond cybersecurity, SandboxAQ operates across quantum simulation, quantum sensing, and AI-driven scientific research. The company maintains an education division that partners with universities to develop curricula, residency programs, and PhD sponsorships in AI and quantum-related disciplines. It also operates SandboxAQ Academy, an open educational platform for AQ-related content.

The company is backed by investors including T. Rowe Price, Eric Schmidt (who serves as Chairman), Breyer Capital, Guggenheim Partners, Marc Benioff, and Paladin Capital Group. Its academic advisors include prominent figures from Stanford University, MIT, and leading European research institutions. SandboxAQ runs an annual scholarship program supporting PhD students researching AI, quantum computing, and post-quantum cryptography.
