Rhebo

Rhebo is a cybersecurity company specializing in the protection of operational technology (OT) and industrial control system (ICS) networks. The company develops and delivers network monitoring and intrusion detection solutions designed specifically for industrial environments, including critical infrastructure sectors such as energy, utilities, and manufacturing.

Rhebo's core technology focuses on passive network monitoring and anomaly detection within OT environments. By analyzing industrial network traffic with deep visibility, the platform identifies malicious activity, anomalous behavior, and operational irregularities without disrupting the sensitive systems common in industrial automation and control environments.

This passive approach is a deliberate design choice, as active scanning tools commonly used in IT networks can destabilize industrial control systems.

The company addresses the cybersecurity challenges that arise from the increasing convergence of IT and OT environments, where formerly isolated production facilities are becoming connected to broader networks and the internet. Rhebo's solutions are used to protect smart meters, industrial automation platforms, and other OT assets against cyberattacks and threats such as ransomware, trojans, and advanced malware like TRITON.

Rhebo has established technology partnerships, including a collaboration with Paessler AG for hybrid IT/OT monitoring. The company was originally founded as a Leipzig-based startup and was subsequently acquired by a Swiss smart meter manufacturer.

It has also participated in research initiatives such as the Fraunhofer HAIP (Hybrid AI Intrusion Prevention for Industrial Control Systems) project. Rhebo's solutions have been integrated as add-ons into industrial automation platforms, including those from Bosch Rexroth.
