ProjectDiscovery

ProjectDiscovery is a cybersecurity company that develops open-source security tools and a commercial platform for vulnerability detection and application security. The company originated from popular open-source projects including nuclei, httpx, and subfinder, which were designed to address limitations in legacy security tools such as excessive false positives, lack of customization, and remediation obstacles.

The company's products focus on helping organizations identify and fix vulnerabilities in their systems while providing a platform for security researchers to share knowledge and expertise. ProjectDiscovery maintains a strong community-driven approach, with over 100,000 stars on GitHub, 900+ nuclei contributors, 10,000+ templates created, and 50 million monthly scans. The nuclei engine serves as a core component for vulnerability scanning and detection.

ProjectDiscovery operates as a remote-first company with approximately 35 team members from over 10 countries. The company raised a seed funding round and began full-time operations in January 2021. Their investor and advisor network includes security leaders from companies like Robinhood, HashiCorp, Netflix, Google, and Snyk, with backing from venture capital firms including CRV, Point72, Accel, SignalFire, and Rain Capital.

The company's approach emphasizes collaboration, transparency, and community contribution to democratize security tools and make cybersecurity more accessible to organizations of all sizes.
