PFP Cybersecurity

PFP Cybersecurity is a technology company that develops cybersecurity solutions based on power fingerprinting (PFP) technology, a technique rooted in signal processing and RF/analog analytics. The company's approach involves monitoring and analyzing the power consumption signatures of electronic devices and embedded systems to detect anomalies, unauthorized modifications, or malicious activity at the hardware and firmware level.

The company's technology was initially developed through academic research at Virginia Tech, where co-founders Dr. Carlos Aguayo Gonzalez (PhD research on PFP, 2005–2010) and Dr. Jeffrey Reed contributed foundational work. The approach has been supported by grants and contracts from organizations including NSF, DoD, DHS, and DARPA, indicating a focus on national security and critical infrastructure use cases.

PFP Cybersecurity targets sectors where hardware integrity and supply chain security are critical concerns, including defense, government, and operational technology (OT) environments. The company's solution is designed to detect threats that traditional software-based security tools may miss, such as firmware tampering, hardware implants, and supply chain compromises.

The leadership team includes significant national security and defense backgrounds, with the Chairman/President/CEO Gordon England having served as Deputy Secretary of Defense and Secretary of the Navy. Advisors include a 39-year NSA veteran and retired military officers, reflecting the company's orientation toward government and defense customers.
