Owl Browser Description
Owl Browser is a self-hosted browser automation engine built on Chromium (CEF) with a custom C99 HTTP server. It is developed by Olib AI and positioned as a replacement for Playwright and Puppeteer, offering a purpose-built engine rather than a wrapper around existing browser automation frameworks. The core product supports up to 256 parallel isolated browser contexts from a single instance, each with unique fingerprints, cookies, and proxy configurations. It features hardware-level GPU virtualization, canvas, WebGL, audio, and font spoofing drawn from over 100 real device profiles. Cold start time is advertised at under 12ms, and the engine exposes a REST API with 175+ automation tools. Python and TypeScript SDKs are available, along with MCP protocol support for integration with LLM-based AI agents such as Claude and ChatGPT. Additional capabilities include built-in Tor control with per-context circuit isolation, CAPTCHA solving (reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, Turnstile, image CAPTCHAs), session recording, network request interception, and natural language element selectors. The product is deployed via Docker on customer infrastructure, with no telemetry or data sharing with the vendor. Security features include AES-256-GCM encryption, memory protection, non-root container execution, read-only filesystem, and SOC2 controls. A bug bounty program is offered with rewards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Use cases supported by the platform include web scraping, security vulnerability scanning (via the SecureProbe project), dark web threat intelligence monitoring (DarkWatch, OnionSentinel), AI-powered test automation, e-commerce price monitoring, and browser stress testing. Pricing ranges from $49.99/month for a cloud-hosted developer tier to $49,999 (one-time) for an enterprise self-hosted license with white-label and OEM options.
