HideMyAss (HMA)

HideMyAss (HMA) is a virtual private network (VPN) service provider that was founded in 2005 by Jack Cator as a web proxy to bypass school firewalls. The company has since evolved into a full VPN service focused on online privacy and security. HMA operates on the principle that privacy is a fundamental right and essential to freedom, including freedom of expression, creativity, and business innovation.

The company provides VPN applications for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android platforms, allowing users to encrypt their internet connections and mask their IP addresses. HMA maintains a global server network that enables users to access content from different geographic locations while protecting their online activities from surveillance and tracking.

HMA is owned by a parent company and operates with a team of approximately 40+ employees who work on product development, customer support, quality assurance, marketing, and technical operations. The company emphasizes transparency as a core value, believing that users should understand who they are trusting with their privacy data.

The service targets individual consumers who seek to protect their online privacy, bypass geographic content restrictions, and secure their internet connections. HMA's approach combines technical VPN infrastructure with a focus on user-friendly applications and customer support to make privacy tools accessible to non-technical users.
