Safety is a cybersecurity company focused on securing AI-powered development workstations. Safety deploys silently and without requiring changes to existing developer tooling. It wraps software installers — including pip, npm, yarn, pnpm, conda, and VS Code Extensions — to block malicious or unapproved software before installation.

The platform inventories Python packages (pip, uv, poetry, conda), JavaScript packages, IDE extensions, AI models from sources like Hugging Face, AI coding assistants such as Cursor and Claude Code, and MCP server configurations.

The company addresses threats specific to modern AI-assisted development environments, including typosquatting and dependency confusion attacks, compromised open-source packages, malicious IDE extensions and MCP servers, and vulnerabilities introduced by AI coding assistants that recommend outdated or hallucinated packages.

Safety maintains its own vulnerability intelligence database, which it claims identifies three times more vulnerabilities than tools relying solely on public feeds such as the NVD or GitHub Security Advisories, by directly analyzing software package releases.
