OpenVPN

OpenVPN is a company built around the open-source OpenVPN protocol, offering both community-driven and commercial VPN and secure networking solutions. Their primary commercial product, CloudConnexa, is a cloud-delivered networking platform that enables organizations to securely connect users, devices, and private networks over the internet using VPN tunneling technology.

CloudConnexa provides configurable internet access controls with multiple security levels: Split Tunnel On (Level-1), which tunnels only private and trusted traffic while letting other traffic use local internet; Split Tunnel Off (Level-2), which routes all traffic through selected Internet Gateways; and Restricted Internet (Level-3), which blocks all non-trusted internet traffic.

The platform supports geographically distributed Internet Gateways with smart routing logic that selects optimal routes based on region and network characteristics.

The platform also features Access Groups, which function as granular access control policies operating on a deny-by-default basis when configured in Custom topology mode. Access Groups allow administrators to define source-to-destination access rules across User Groups, Hosts, Networks, IP Services, and Applications — supporting use cases such as API access control, site-to-site access control, and IP subnet segmentation.

OpenVPN targets businesses seeking to control and secure network access for remote workers, branch offices, and interconnected private networks. The platform is managed via a web-based administration interface and offers separate documentation tiers for Owners, Administrators, Users, and Developers, indicating a multi-role enterprise deployment model.
