Nym Technologies

Nym Technologies is a privacy infrastructure company that develops decentralized, open-source anonymity network technology. Its core product is a mixnet — a network that routes internet traffic through multiple nodes, mixing packets to obscure metadata and prevent traffic analysis or surveillance.

The mixnet is built in Rust, operates on a permissionless and trustless model, and is powered by the NYM utility token, which incentivizes node operators to maintain network performance.

The flagship consumer product is NymVPN, a VPN application built on top of the Nym mixnet. NymVPN offers two modes: a WireGuard-based "Fast Mode" for everyday privacy and a mixnet-based mode for stronger anonymity. Features include a kill switch, split tunneling, ad blocking, and post-quantum security. The application targets both individual users and B2B clients in the privacy technology and cryptocurrency sectors.

The underlying network uses zero-knowledge credentials (zk-nyms) to enable privacy-preserving authentication. The NYX blockchain supports the token economy, enabling staking, node rewards, and delegations. Nym's software is fully open source and publicly auditable, with no backdoors.

Nym operates globally with offices in London and Paris, a community of node operators worldwide, and grant programs to support ecosystem growth. The company has received funding from Binance Labs, Polychain, and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). Its advisory board includes prominent cryptographers and security researchers from UCL, KU Leuven, EPFL, and the University of Edinburgh.
