Multifactor

Multifactor is a public benefit company that develops zero-trust authentication and identity management solutions for the modern web, with a focus on securing online accounts for AI agents and agentic systems. The company's platform is designed to unify and secure digital identities through multi-factor authentication technologies.

The company has developed MFKDF (Multi-Factor Key Derivation Function), a cryptographic technology that enables multi-factor key derivation with advanced key derivation policies, factor persistence, self-service key recovery, and end-to-end encryption.

This technology has been presented at DEF CON 30 and demonstrated in both centralized password management applications and decentralized cryptocurrency wallet applications using IPFS and IPNS for policy file storage.

Multifactor's platform aims to put digital life on autopilot while maintaining security through zero-trust principles. The company raised a $15 million seed round in December 2025 to advance its mission of making online accounts safe for AI agents. Their approach combines authentication, authorization, and auditing capabilities designed for the agentic web era.

The company's technology supports both centralized and decentralized application architectures, offering developers tools to build secure authentication systems with multi-factor protection. Their solutions address the emerging security challenges posed by AI agents accessing and managing online accounts on behalf of users.
