Mitigant

Mitigant is a cloud-focused adversarial exposure validation platform developed by Resility GmbH, founded in June 2021 in Germany. The platform validates cloud security effectiveness by emulating real adversarial techniques across AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes environments. Mitigant implements Security Chaos Engineering techniques to proactively test cloud infrastructure resilience against potential attacks before actual breaches occur.

The platform goes beyond traditional misconfiguration detection by conducting cloud attack scenario simulations to observe how infrastructure responds under various threat conditions. This approach allows organizations to identify which security controls actually work and reveals critical blind spots in their cloud defenses. Mitigant positions itself within Gartner's Adversarial Exposure Validation (AEV) category.

The company was founded by Kennedy Torkura, Nils Karn, and Muhammad Sukmana, who met at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut in Potsdam, Germany, with Dr. Thomas Fricke joining as an advisor. The founding team brought together academic research in cloud security and design thinking with industry expertise. Resility received seven-figure seed funding in December 2021 from Hightech-GründerFonds, Brandenburg Kapital, and adesso Ventures.

Mitigant targets enterprises that operate cloud infrastructure and need to validate their security posture against evolving cloud-based attack techniques. The platform is designed for organizations seeking proactive security validation rather than reactive detection and response approaches.
