## What is Sophos EDR?

Sophos EDR is an endpoint detection and response product for security analysts and IT administrators. It protects endpoints and servers in the office, at home or in the cloud from advanced, human-led attacks. It comes as one agent that includes Sophos Endpoint, the company's endpoint protection with ransomware and adaptive defenses.

Sophos EDR ranks detections with AI so analysts see the most urgent ones first. It writes AI case summaries, lets analysts search with AI and explains suspicious commands. Detections map to the MITRE ATT&CK framework. It can respond on its own, and analysts can also act by hand. It shows real-time device data and points out devices that are exposed to risk.

Sophos EDR runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, on-premises and in the cloud, including older platforms. Teams that already run Sophos Endpoint can turn on EDR from the Sophos console without a new agent. Microsoft Defender can be used as the endpoint protection agent in place of Sophos Endpoint.
