DNS-layer protection for devices across all network environments

Checked October 2026.

## What is ScoutDNS Device Protection?

ScoutDNS Device Protection provides DNS-layer security for devices across multiple network environments including on-premises, remote, and roaming scenarios. The solution offers three deployment methods: WAN Site Forwarding for site-based coverage with DNS-Over-HTTPS support, Cloud Managed Network Relays for LAN subnet-based policies, and Desktop Agents for roaming device protection.

The platform protects devices regardless of their location or VPN status through its Scout360 Roaming Client, which supports Windows and MacOS endpoints. Network Relays enable zero-touch remote adoption and allow policy deployment by subnets and VLANs with LAN IP device reporting without requiring agents.

WAN Site Protection supports multi-WAN configurations and includes dynamic DNS options for sites without static IPs. The solution provides configurable fail-open options and instant DoH protection at egress points. Device reporting includes user-aware logging and 30-day searchable DNS logs with drill-down analytics and full RDATA inspection.

The platform includes content filtering with 67 categories, threat protection against malware, ransomware, and phishing at the DNS layer, and network visibility features. Management is handled through a centralized UI with capabilities for remote uninstall, disable, and device management. The solution uses the ScoutDNS Global Anycast Network for query processing.
