## What is Resource Counter?

Resource Counter is a command line tool designed to count and inventory AWS resources across multiple Amazon regions. The tool provides visibility into cloud infrastructure by enumerating various AWS services and presenting the results in both detailed per-region dictionaries and summarized totals.

The tool focuses on efficient querying mechanisms to minimize API impact while gathering comprehensive resource counts. It currently supports monitoring over 20 different AWS services including Application and Network Load Balancers, Auto Scaling Groups, Classic Load Balancers, CloudTrail Trails, CloudWatch Rules, Config Rules, DynamoDB Tables, Elastic IP Addresses, Glacier Vaults, IAM Groups, EC2 Images and Instances, KMS Keys, Lambda Functions, Launch Configurations, NAT Gateways, Network ACLs, IAM Policies, RDS Instances, IAM Roles, S3 Buckets, SAML Providers, SNS Topics, Security Groups, and Snapshots.

The tool outputs results in a structured format showing resource counts per region, followed by aggregated totals across all monitored regions. Future development plans include enhanced output formats such as CSV file generation and continued expansion of supported AWS services based on user requests.
