## What is yunginnanet HellPot?

HellPot is an HTTP honeypot designed to punish automated bots that ignore robots.txt directives. The tool operates by sending an infinite stream of data to connecting clients, using a markov engine that generates content based on Friedrich Nietzsche's "The Birth of Tragedy" to create output that appears legitimate enough to keep bots engaged indefinitely.

Built on the fasthttp framework, HellPot is based on the Heffalump project but includes additional capabilities such as TOML configuration file support, JSON logging via zerolog, and performance optimizations. The tool is cross-platform and can be deployed as a standalone service or behind a reverse proxy.

HellPot includes configurable options for deception tactics, such as customizable HTTP server headers, TCP listener binding, real IP header detection for reverse proxy deployments, and user agent blacklisting. The tool can be deployed using Docker or compiled from source using Go.

The honeypot is designed to consume bot resources by keeping connections open and continuously streaming data, effectively wasting the time and bandwidth of malicious automated scanners and crawlers that attempt to access protected endpoints.
