## What is Detection Lab?

DetectionLab is a Windows domain environment designed for cybersecurity defenders to practice and develop detection capabilities. The lab provides a pre-configured Windows domain with security tooling and logging configurations already implemented.

The environment includes multiple Windows hosts that can be deployed using Vagrant for virtualization. It comes with security monitoring tools and best practices for system logging already configured, allowing users to observe and analyze security events within a controlled environment.

The lab is designed for educational and training purposes, enabling security professionals to understand attack patterns, test detection rules, and improve their incident response skills. Users can modify the lab configuration to add additional hosts or customize the environment based on their specific training needs.

Note that DetectionLab is no longer actively maintained as of 2023 and uses default Vagrant credentials, making it unsuitable for production environments or connection to trusted networks.
