## Executive summary

As of November 2026, CybersecTools tracks 605 companies that sell security operations solutions as their main business. Security Information and Event Management is part of that family. The largest groups are based in the United States, the United Kingdom and France. In the last 12 months they raised $15B across 74 funding rounds, 25 companies were acquired and 59 new companies started in the last two years.

From that field we chose seven platforms that collect logs from across your company, spot threats in them and help your team investigate and respond. Microsoft Sentinel suits companies that already run Microsoft, because its own logs connect quickly and the first detections arrive early. Splunk Enterprise Security fits large SOCs that want one place to search every log and flexible dashboards. CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM suits Falcon customers, because the endpoint data is already there and no new collection layer is needed.

The main choice is between a SIEM priced by data volume and one priced another way. Sentinel, Splunk and Google Security Operations handle very large volumes, but costs grow with the data you send. Exabeam leans on behavior analytics, and Securonix puts SIEM, behavior analytics, response automation and threat intelligence in one cloud platform. Elastic Security puts SIEM and threat hunting on one fast search engine that you can also run yourself.

Ask each vendor to price your real log volume for three years, because cost is the most common complaint.

## How we evaluated

We looked at 117 security information and event management solutions from 77 companies, and the 7 on this page made the cut. We combined our judgment from years of leading enterprise security programs with market data from [Mandos](https://mandos.io/data/companies?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist), our market intelligence platform, and with the vendor and review pages listed under Sources at the end of this page. For customer feedback, we left out paid reviews, reviews by vendor staff or partners, review campaigns and anything older than two years, so you get an accurate view of what customers say.

Four traits mattered most: collecting data from many sources at scale; detections that find real threats with manageable noise; fast search and case management for analysts; and pricing you can forecast as data grows. We left out data pipelines, observability engines and overlay layers that sit on top of a SIEM. The order follows how widely each product is used by teams like yours. Company momentum shows how the vendor itself is growing, so a market leader can rank first with a lower score.

## What is Security Information and Event Management

A security information and event management (SIEM) platform collects logs and events from firewalls, endpoints, identity systems, cloud services and applications. It stores them in one place, correlates them to find threats and gives analysts search, alerts and case management to investigate. Many SIEMs now add automated response and behavior analytics on top.

This matters because attacks leave traces across many systems, and no single product sees them all. A SIEM joins those traces into one story, so your team can spot an attack early and prove what happened. It also keeps the log history that auditors and regulators expect to see.

### 1. Microsoft Sentinel

**[Microsoft](https://mandos.io/data/companies/microsoft?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist-md&utm_campaign=explore-in-mandos)**. Cloud-native SIEM with AI-driven analytics and unified security operations

Redmond, United States · Founded 1975 · Public company · Momentum 59/100 (Mandos)

Certifications: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA

**Best for:** Companies already running Microsoft

Product page: https://cybersectools.com/tools/microsoft-sentinel

#### At a glance

- Vendor: Microsoft
- Headquarters: Redmond, United States
- Founded: 1975
- Ownership: Public company (MSFT)
- Deployment: Cloud
- Company size: SMB, Mid-Market, Enterprise
- NIST CSF: Detect, Respond
- Starting price: From $0.005 per Data Analyzed (GB)

#### Our take

Microsoft Sentinel is a cloud-native SIEM with a security data lake, built-in SOAR, behavior analytics and threat intelligence. It offers more than 350 data connectors and works closely with Microsoft Defender. Security Copilot helps analysts investigate incidents, and AI suggests ways to tune the SOC.

Connectors cover other clouds and products too, such as AWS, Google Cloud, 1Password and Abnormal Security.

It earns its place because SIEM, SOAR, behavior analytics and a data lake come as one cloud service, so you do not stitch them together yourself. That suits any size, from SMB to enterprise, and it is the natural pick if Defender already runs your endpoints. If most of your stack is not Microsoft, check which of your key sources sit among the 350 connectors before you commit.

#### Microsoft Sentinel main features

- Cloud-native SIEM with analytics and monitoring
- Security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR)
- User entity and behavior analytics (UEBA)
- Threat intelligence integration with STIX/TAXII support
- Native XDR integration with Microsoft Defender
- Unified data lake for security data storage
- Security graph for enriched context and visibility
- AI-driven SOC optimization with dynamic recommendations

#### Microsoft Sentinel main integrations

AWS, Google Cloud, 1Password, 42Crunch, Abnormal Security

#### What customers say

Sentiment: 40% positive · 53% mixed · 7% negative (from first-hand public reviews and comments, 2025 to 2026).
Most praised: Integrations.
Most criticized: Price, Setup.

Sentinel makes the most sense when you already run Microsoft, because Defender, Entra and Microsoft 365 logs connect with little effort and the ready-made rules and playbooks pay off early. Since it runs in the cloud, teams also skip running SIEM servers of their own. The catch is cost, as billing follows how much data you send in, so bills are hard to forecast, and the query language and rule tuning take real time to learn.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- Fast setup with Microsoft data
- Ready-made rules and playbooks
- More than 350 data connectors

Ask in the demo:

- Estimate your daily data volume before signing
- Plan training for the query language
- Check which data is free to bring in with your license

### 2. Splunk Enterprise Security

**[Splunk Inc.](https://mandos.io/data/companies/splunk-inc?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist-md&utm_campaign=explore-in-mandos)**. Unified SIEM platform with integrated SOAR, UEBA, and AI capabilities for TDIR

San Jose, United States · Founded 2003 · $40M raised · Momentum 25/100 (Mandos)

Certifications: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA, Common Criteria

**Best for:** Large SOCs that want to search every log in one place

Product page: https://cybersectools.com/tools/splunk-enterprise-security

#### At a glance

- Vendor: Splunk Inc.
- Headquarters: San Jose, United States
- Founded: 2003
- Deployment: Hybrid
- Company size: Mid-Market, Enterprise
- NIST CSF: Detect, Respond
- Starting price: Contact sales

#### Our take

Splunk Enterprise Security combines SIEM, SOAR and behavior analytics in one workspace. Risk-based alerting groups signals to cut noise, Detection Studio manages detections, and federated search reaches data where it already lives. It maps detections to MITRE ATT&CK, enriches threats automatically and offers an AI assistant for investigations.

Integrations include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Okta, ServiceNow and Salesforce.

Splunk is on the list as the search-first SIEM, which suits mid-market and enterprise SOCs that want to query any log and build their own detections. Federated search means you do not have to move every log into one store to use it. Splunk is part of Cisco and its company momentum has stalled, so ask how the product will develop inside Cisco.

#### Splunk Enterprise Security main features

- Risk-Based Alerting (RBA) for alert prioritization
- Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR)
- User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA)
- AI Assistant for investigation guidance and queries
- Detection Studio for detection lifecycle management
- Federated Search and Federated Analytics
- MITRE ATT&CK Framework mapping
- Automated threat enrichment

#### Splunk Enterprise Security main integrations

Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure (Microsoft Cloud Services), Google Cloud Platform, Okta Identity Cloud, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Box, Symantec Endpoint Protection

#### What customers say

Sentiment: 60% positive · 40% mixed · 0% negative (from first-hand public reviews and comments, 2025 to 2026).
Most praised: Integrations, Reports, Interface.
Most criticized: Setup, Licensing.

Security teams run their daily monitoring on it, pulling logs from firewalls, endpoints, cloud and apps into one place where events are linked and investigated. Its risk-based alerting gets a lot of credit, because it scores users and systems over time and raises an alert only when the risk adds up, which cuts the noise analysts have to chase. The catch is cost and effort, since pricing grows with the data you send in, and getting real value takes people who know its search language plus steady tuning.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- Fast search across all logs
- Risk-based alerting to cut noise
- Large set of add-ons

Ask in the demo:

- Price licensing at your real data volume
- Plan admin and tuning time
- Ask how federated search affects cost

### 3. CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM

**[CrowdStrike](https://mandos.io/data/companies/crowdstrike?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist-md&utm_campaign=explore-in-mandos)**. AI-native SIEM platform for consolidating security tools and data

Austin, United States · Founded 2011 · Public company · Momentum 74/100 (Mandos)

Certifications: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA

**Best for:** CrowdStrike Falcon customers

Product page: https://cybersectools.com/tools/crowdstrike-falcon-next-gen-siem

#### At a glance

- Vendor: CrowdStrike
- Headquarters: Austin, United States
- Founded: 2011
- Ownership: Public company (CRWD)
- Deployment: Cloud
- Company size: SMB, Mid-Market, Enterprise
- NIST CSF: Detect, Respond
- Starting price: Free plan

#### Our take

CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM correlates endpoint, identity, cloud and network events in the Falcon platform. Charlotte AI helps analysts work faster, agentic SOAR automates response, and Falcon Onum manages data pipelines. It adds log management, historical search and threat hunting backed by CrowdStrike threat intelligence, and it can take data from Microsoft Defender.

It makes the list because it grows a SIEM out of the endpoint platform, so your detection and your log search live in the same console. That is a strong fit if Falcon already protects your endpoints, at any company size. If it does not, the main reason to pick it falls away, so judge it as a standalone SIEM against the rest of this list.

#### CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM main features

- AI-native threat detection and alerting across security domains
- Cross-domain event correlation spanning endpoint, identity, cloud, and network
- Charlotte AI generative AI assistant for analyst acceleration
- Agentic SOAR for automated response orchestration
- Data pipeline management via Falcon Onum for real-time data ingestion
- Log management and historical search for forensic investigation
- Threat hunting backed by CrowdStrike threat intelligence
- Consolidation of siloed security tools into a unified SOC platform

#### CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM main integrations

Microsoft Defender

#### What customers say

Sentiment: 90% positive · 10% mixed · 0% negative (from first-hand public reviews and comments, 2024 to 2026).
Most praised: Speed, Integrations, Reports.
Most criticized: Missing features, Ease of use.

Falcon Next-Gen SIEM starts fast for Falcon customers, because the sensors already on the endpoints feed it directly and there is no log collection layer to build first. Analysts praise how quickly searches return even across huge data sets, and they like working endpoint, identity, cloud and other data from one console, which several say also cuts storage costs. The catch is third-party data, since parsers don't always name fields the same way and some connectors take real work, and the interface takes training before new analysts are comfortable.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- Fast start for Falcon customers
- One console across endpoint, identity and cloud
- Agentic SOAR for response

Ask in the demo:

- Test parsing for your main third-party sources
- Ask how pricing changes beyond the free tier
- Plan time to learn the query language

### 4. Google Security Operations

**[Google](https://mandos.io/data/companies/google?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist-md&utm_campaign=explore-in-mandos)**. Cloud-native SIEM, SOAR, and threat intel platform for SecOps teams

Mountain View, United States · Founded 1998 · Public company · Momentum 50/100 (Mandos)

Certifications: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA

**Best for:** Teams with very high log volumes

Product page: https://cybersectools.com/tools/google-security-operations

#### At a glance

- Vendor: Google
- Headquarters: Mountain View, United States
- Founded: 1998
- Ownership: Public company (GOOGL)
- Deployment: Cloud
- Company size: Mid-Market, Enterprise
- NIST CSF: Detect, Respond
- Pricing: Contact sales

#### Our take

Google Security Operations combines SIEM, SOAR and threat intelligence. It ships curated detections from Google's threat researchers, supports custom rules in YARA-L and lets analysts search with natural language through Gemini. Case management, alert graphing and automatic entity stitching help investigations, and SOAR playbooks automate response.

Integrations include CrowdStrike Falcon, Okta, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft 365, AWS CloudTrail, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Zscaler Internet Access and ServiceNow.

It earns a spot because ready-made detections from Google's researchers come with the platform, so you write fewer rules from scratch. It suits mid-market and enterprise SOCs that send large log volumes to the cloud. Its natural-language search and investigation chat run on Gemini, so check that your data policies allow that before you rely on them.

#### Google Security Operations main features

- Curated threat detections
- Custom detection rules in YARA-L
- Natural language data search with Gemini
- Data pipeline management
- Threat-centric case management
- Alert graphing
- Automatic entity stitching
- SOAR playbook automation

#### Google Security Operations main integrations

CrowdStrike Falcon, Okta, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, AWS CloudTrail, Amazon GuardDuty, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Zscaler Internet Access, SentinelOne, ServiceNow, Proofpoint On-Demand, Netskope, Cloudflare, Cisco ASA, Fortinet FortiGate, Check Point, Cisco Duo, Jamf Protect, Qualys, Mimecast, Carbon Black App Control, Slack, Salesforce, GitHub

#### What customers say

Sentiment: 52% positive · 36% mixed · 12% negative (from first-hand public reviews and comments, 2025 to 2026).
Most praised: Speed.
Most criticized: Missing features, Ease of use.

Teams pick it for scale, because it takes in very large log volumes and still searches them fast, at a price that holds up as data grows. Analysts find it easy to investigate in once logs are mapped to its common data model, but getting there takes work when custom log sources need hand-written parsers. The catch is learning it, since the docs and training are often out of date, and many users find the interface clunky and the case management on the automation side weak.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- Fast search at very high volume
- Curated detections from Google researchers
- Natural language search with Gemini

Ask in the demo:

- Plan time to learn YARA-L and build parsers
- Test case management with your analysts
- Ask how pricing is set for your volume

#### Our take

Exabeam New-Scale SIEM runs on Google Cloud and offers more than 7,000 prebuilt log parsers, a common data model and a central Threat Center for alerts and cases. The Exabeam Nova agents automate SOC work. It supports up to 1,000 custom correlation rules, maps to MITRE ATT&CK and can take data from other SIEMs.

It connects to IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, OpenText ArcSight, Sumo Logic, Microsoft Defender, AWS and Azure.

Exabeam is here because it can sit on top of an existing SIEM as well as replace one, so you can add its analytics without a full rip and replace. It fits mid-market and enterprise SOCs mid-way through a SIEM change. Exabeam is owned by Thoma Bravo, so ask about the product roadmap under that owner.

#### Exabeam New-Scale SIEM main features

- Natural language search across terabytes of data
- Over 7,000 prebuilt log parsers with 2M+ EPS processing
- Common Information Model for data normalization
- Centralized Threat Center for alerts, cases, and detections
- Exabeam Nova intelligent agent framework for SOC automation
- Up to 1,000 custom correlation rules
- Threat Intelligence Service with 24-hour feed refresh

#### Exabeam New-Scale SIEM main integrations

IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, OpenText ArcSight, McAfee Nitro, Sumo Logic, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Microsoft Defender, AWS, Azure, GCP, Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, Google Cloud Platform

#### What customers say

Exabeam stands out for its user behavior analytics, which builds a risk score and timeline for each user, so analysts can see what an account did before and after an alert and move through investigations faster. Customers also like how much works out of the box, from log parsers to detection rules, and how easily it connects to their other security products. The on-premise version is harder going, because it takes real expertise to run and its admin screens limit how far you can customize rules and models.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- More than 7,000 prebuilt parsers
- User behavior views for risky accounts
- Works alongside other SIEMs

Ask in the demo:

- Confirm whether you need the cloud or older version
- Review dashboard options for your managers
- Ask how the LogRhythm merger affects your roadmap

### 6. Securonix Unified Defense SIEM

**[Securonix](https://mandos.io/data/companies/securonix?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist-md&utm_campaign=explore-in-mandos)**. Cloud-native SIEM platform with UEBA, SOAR, TIP, and TDIR capabilities

Addison, United States · Founded 2008 · $65M raised · Momentum 49/100 (Mandos)

Certifications: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA

**Best for:** One cloud platform for SIEM, UEBA, SOAR and threat intel

Product page: https://cybersectools.com/tools/securonix-unified-defense-siem

#### At a glance

- Vendor: Securonix
- Headquarters: Addison, United States
- Founded: 2008
- Deployment: Cloud
- Company size: Mid-Market, Enterprise
- NIST CSF: Detect, Respond
- Pricing: Contact sales

#### Our take

Securonix Unified Defense SIEM is a cloud-native SIEM that also brings user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA), response automation (SOAR), a threat intelligence platform and threat detection and response into one system. Behavior analytics and AI-driven detection aim to cut false positives.

Securonix documents handling 1.3 million events per second for enterprise deployments. It added threat intelligence through its purchase of ThreatQuotient. It connects to AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365 and Snowflake.

It makes the list because SIEM, UEBA, SOAR and threat intel come as one cloud platform, so a large SOC can drop several separate products. That fits mid-market and enterprise teams with heavy event volumes. Vista Equity Partners has owned Securonix since 2022, so ask how the ThreatQuotient platform will merge into the main product.

#### Securonix Unified Defense SIEM main features

- Unified SIEM, UEBA, SOAR, TIP, and TDIR platform
- AI-driven threat detection and analytics
- Automated response capabilities
- High-volume event processing (1.3M EPS)
- Behavioral analytics for user and entity monitoring
- Threat intelligence platform integration
- False positive reduction
- Multi-source data correlation

#### Securonix Unified Defense SIEM main integrations

AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365, Snowflake

#### What customers say

Behavior analytics are the draw here, because they pick up advanced threats and unusual user activity that older SIEM setups often miss, and the platform copes well with large volumes of security data. Once it's running, analysts find incidents easy to triage, and the dashboards and reporting hold up in daily work. The catch is getting there, because setup and tuning need experienced people and log parsing gives trouble, so bringing in new data sources cleanly takes real effort.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- SIEM, UEBA, SOAR and threat intel in one platform
- Behavior analytics to cut false positives
- Built for high event volumes

Ask in the demo:

- Ask which modules are in the base price
- Test detection quality on your own log sources
- Ask how ThreatQ fits into the platform today

### 7. Elastic Security

**[Elastic](https://mandos.io/data/companies/elastic?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist-md&utm_campaign=explore-in-mandos)**. SIEM that detects, hunts, and responds to threats on the Elasticsearch platform.

Mountain View, United States · Founded 2012 · Public company · Momentum 71/100 (Mandos)

Certifications: SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA

**Best for:** Teams wanting fast search and a self-managed option

Product page: https://cybersectools.com/tools/elastic-security-siem

#### At a glance

- Vendor: Elastic
- Headquarters: Mountain View, United States
- Founded: 2012
- Ownership: Public company (ESTC)
- Deployment: Hybrid
- Company size: Mid-Market, Enterprise
- NIST CSF: Detect, Respond
- Starting price: From $0.02 per retained GB per month per month

#### Our take

Elastic Security is a SIEM from Elastic. It collects security data, finds threats with detection rules mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, and helps analysts investigate and respond. When a new data source connects, it maps the data and suggests rules. Attack Discovery groups related alerts into one attack story.

Analysts hunt with ES|QL queries, including searches across separate clusters without moving the data. Elastic Workflows automates steps such as disabling accounts and isolating hosts, with approval gates. It can convert rules from an existing SIEM.

Elastic earns its place as the pick you can run yourself, in Elastic Cloud, on your own servers or in air-gapped sites, which matters if data cannot leave your network. It fits mid-market and enterprise teams that want that control. The trade-off is that a self-managed SIEM makes you responsible for the cluster, its upgrades and its storage.

#### Elastic Security main features

- Proactive threat hunting
- Detection rules mapped to MITRE ATT&CK
- Automatic data source schema mapping
- Attack Discovery alert correlation
- Agentic triage and investigation
- Incident response workflows
- Entity analytics with risk scoring
- Federated search across environments

#### Elastic Security main integrations

OpenTelemetry

#### What customers say

Sentiment: 45% positive · 45% mixed · 10% negative (from first-hand public reviews and comments, 2024 to 2026).
Most praised: Price.
Most criticized: Setup, Stability.

Elastic Security puts SIEM, endpoint protection and threat intel in one product, and analysts who use it daily find it easy to work in. Running it is another story, because setup, data mapping and upkeep take real skill, so users say you need a dedicated admin or a small team behind it. Some also find its query language weaker for deep log analysis, which makes complex searches and dashboards more work.

#### Before you buy

Where it is strong:

- Fast search across very large log sets
- Cloud, self-managed or air-gapped
- Rules mapped to MITRE ATT&CK

Ask in the demo:

- Plan admin time for setup and tuning
- Test search speed on your real log volume
- Ask how pricing works for the data you keep

## CISO checklist for selecting a Security Information and Event Management product

Work through these steps in order to go from scattered logs to a contract you can defend.

1. **List your log sources and daily volume.** Price and design depend on them.
2. **Decide which logs you must keep and for how long.** Retention drives storage cost.
3. **Ask each vendor to price your volume for three years.** Cost is the most common complaint.
4. **Run a pilot with your main sources.** Real data shows parsing gaps.
5. **Count alerts and false positives in the pilot.** Noise wastes analyst time.
6. **Test search speed on large time ranges.** Investigations need fast answers.
7. **Plan who will tune rules and run the SIEM.** Upkeep is a common complaint.
8. **Check compliance reports you need.** Auditors will ask for them.
9. **Plan migration of rules and old logs.** Moving SIEMs takes careful work.

## Conclusion

Start with the data you already have. Microsoft Sentinel suits Microsoft shops, CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM suits Falcon customers, and Google Security Operations handles very high log volumes. Splunk Enterprise Security suits large SOCs that want to search everything in one place.

Exabeam leans on behavior analytics, and Securonix puts SIEM, behavior analytics, response automation and threat intelligence in one cloud platform. Elastic Security fits teams that want fast search across large log sets and the choice to run it themselves.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is the difference between SIEM and XDR?

A SIEM collects logs from almost any source and keeps them for search and compliance. XDR focuses on detection and response across a vendor's own products. Many companies use both, and some products here blur the line.

### Why are SIEM costs hard to predict?

Many SIEMs charge by the data you send in, and log volume grows over time. Estimate your real volume, filter noisy sources and ask for a price at your expected growth.

### Do we need a SOC to run a SIEM?

You need people to watch alerts and tune rules. If you do not have them, consider a managed SIEM or an MDR service that runs it for you.

### How long does a SIEM rollout take?

Connecting the main sources takes weeks. Tuning detections and building reports takes months, so plan the rollout in stages.

### Can we move from one SIEM to another?

Yes, but plan for rewriting rules, rebuilding dashboards and keeping old logs for compliance. Several vendors offer migration help.
