## Executive summary

As of November 2026, CybersecTools tracks 427 companies that sell GRC solutions as their main business. The largest groups are based in the United States, the United Kingdom and India. In the last 12 months they raised $438M across 40 funding rounds, 20 companies were acquired and 41 new companies started in the last two years.

GRC covers two kinds of product, and this list has both. Vanta Agentic Trust Platform comes first, and it fits startups and growing companies that need to get audit-ready for SOC 2 and stay that way. Drata Agentic Trust Management Platform is second. It suits teams that also want vendor risk tracking, AI help with security questionnaires and a Trust Center for customers. Scytale, fifth on the list, is also a compliance automation platform. It adds an auditor portal, vendor risk checks and user access reviews.

Optro GRC Intelligence Platform, formerly AuditBoard, is third. It fits larger companies where audit, risk and compliance teams share one system. Archer Evolv, MetricStream GRC Platform, IBM OpenPages and LogicGate Risk Cloud are also enterprise GRC suites. They cover risk, audit, policy and regulatory change across the whole company.

So start with one question. If you mainly need to pass security audits and answer customer security reviews, pick a compliance automation platform. If you need to run risk and audit programs across many teams and regulators, pick an enterprise GRC suite.

## How we evaluated

We looked at 580 GRC solutions from 367 companies, and the 8 on this page made the cut. We combined our judgment from years of leading enterprise security programs with market data from [Mandos](https://mandos.io/data/companies?utm_source=cybersectools.com&utm_medium=shortlist), our market intelligence platform, and with the vendor and review pages listed under Sources at the end of this page. For customer feedback, we left out paid reviews, reviews by vendor staff or partners, review campaigns and anything older than two years, so you get an accurate view of what customers say.

Five traits carried the most weight. The first two were how much evidence collection and control testing the product automates, and how it maps controls to frameworks and regulations. The next three were how wide its risk coverage goes, whether it supports internal audit work, and how it connects to the systems that hold your evidence. Deployment options and company size also counted, and both kinds of GRC product share one list so you can weigh them side by side.

## What is GRC

GRC stands for governance, risk and compliance. A GRC platform tracks the rules you must follow, the risks you face and the controls that address them. It replaces spreadsheets and email threads with one shared record. It also produces the evidence and reports that auditors, regulators, customers and your board ask for.

The family has two branches. Security compliance automation platforms connect to your systems, test controls all the time and collect evidence, so you stay ready for audits such as SOC 2. Enterprise GRC suites go wider and manage operational and third-party risk, internal audit, policy, regulatory change and business continuity across a large company. Both depend on clean links to the systems that hold your evidence and risk data.

#### Our take

Vanta Agentic Trust Platform is a GRC platform for security and compliance programs. It monitors your controls all the time and automates compliance workflows. It supports SOC 2 and other compliance standards. It also helps you pick the standards that fit your business.

The platform connects to your existing technology to check your security posture and compliance status. ## How they fit your cybersecurity program (NIST CSF)

NIST CSF 2.0 has six functions: Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover. The grid shows which functions each pick maps to in our record, so you can see where a solution sits in your program and what it leaves to other controls.

All 8 solutions map to Govern and Identify. 2 of 8 map to Protect. 2 of 8 map to Detect. 1 of 8 maps to Respond. None map to Recover.

| Solution | Govern | Identify | Protect | Detect | Respond | Recover |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| All solutions on this list | 8 of 8 | 8 of 8 | 2 of 8 | 2 of 8 | 1 of 8 | 0 of 8 |
| Vanta Agentic Trust Platform | 2 of 6 (Organizational Context, Oversight) | 1 of 3 (Risk Assessment) | – | – | – | – |

Each cell shows how many of the function's NIST CSF 2.0 categories the solution maps to, with the category names.

A product helps you reach these outcomes, but it does not make you compliant on its own. Your people and processes do the rest.

## CISO checklist for selecting a GRC product

Use these steps in order to move from a vague need for GRC to a signed contract you can defend.

1. **Name the audits, frameworks and regulations you must meet** A SOC 2 audit and a set of banking rules call for different products. This list tells you which kind of GRC platform to shortlist.
2. **Name the teams that will use the platform** Security, internal audit, risk, compliance and legal teams need different views. A product built for one may not serve the others.
3. **Decide between compliance automation and an enterprise suite** Compliance automation keeps you audit-ready. Enterprise suites run risk and audit programs across the company. Buying the wrong kind leaves the real gap open.
4. **List the systems that hold your evidence** Cloud, identity, HR and ticketing systems hold most audit evidence. Ask for the connector list and check each one against your stack.
5. **Check how controls map across frameworks** One control often meets several requirements. Good mapping means you test it once and reuse the evidence.
6. **Run a pilot on one real audit or risk assessment** Vendor demos use clean data. Your own controls and evidence show how much the product really automates.
7. **Ask how AI outputs are reviewed and logged** AI drafts questionnaire answers, audit steps and risk summaries. You need an audit trail and a way to limit what the AI can do.
8. **Assess how much setup and admin time is needed** Configurable suites need people to build and maintain workflows. Without that time, the platform sits half used.
9. **Confirm where your data is stored and who can see it** Your risk register, audit findings and evidence are sensitive. Check hosting options, access controls and retention terms.
10. **Get the license scope in writing by module** Many GRC platforms sell risk, audit, compliance and third-party features as separate modules. Surprises show up at renewal.

## Conclusion

Start by deciding which problem you have. If you need to pass security audits and answer customer reviews, look at Vanta Agentic Trust Platform, Drata Agentic Trust Management Platform or Scytale. For risk, audit and regulatory programs across a large company, look at Optro GRC Intelligence Platform, Archer Evolv, MetricStream GRC Platform, IBM OpenPages or LogicGate Risk Cloud. Then judge every option by one test: does it cut the manual work you do before each audit or board report?

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is the difference between compliance automation and an enterprise GRC suite?

Compliance automation platforms connect to your systems, test controls and gather evidence so you stay ready for security audits. Enterprise GRC suites manage risk, internal audit, policy and regulatory change across a whole company. Vanta Agentic Trust Platform, Drata Agentic Trust Management Platform and Scytale are the first kind. Optro GRC Intelligence Platform, Archer Evolv, MetricStream GRC Platform, IBM OpenPages and LogicGate Risk Cloud are the second.

### Do I need a GRC platform to prepare for a SOC 2 audit?

No, but it cuts the manual work. A compliance automation platform tracks your controls and collects evidence all year, not only in the weeks before the audit. That also helps when customers ask for proof of your security posture.

### Which products on this list support internal audit?

Optro GRC Intelligence Platform helps with audit planning, sampling, evidence and executive summaries. MetricStream GRC Platform has an audit module with SOX compliance. IBM OpenPages has an Internal Audit Management module. Ask each vendor to walk through one of your past audits in a demo.

### Can I run a GRC platform on-premises?

IBM OpenPages runs on any cloud or on-premises. The other seven products on this list run in the cloud. Drata Agentic Trust Management Platform runs in the cloud but can connect to on-premises infrastructure.

### How do GRC platforms handle third-party risk?

Drata Agentic Trust Management Platform and Scytale track vendor risk in one place. Archer Evolv covers third-party risk inside its Risk module. MetricStream GRC Platform shows third-party and fourth-party risk, and IBM OpenPages has a Third-Party Risk Management module. Check whether the product pulls in outside risk ratings or relies on questionnaires alone.

### How do GRC platforms map to NIST CSF 2.0?

Most map to the Govern and Identify functions, because they track policy, risk and oversight. Check each vendor's own mapping for other functions. Ask which functions the product supports in practice, not only on paper.
