# Post-Quantum Cryptography Solutions 2026

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solutions get your encryption ready for quantum computers. A large enough quantum computer could break RSA and elliptic-curve cryptography, which protect most data and connections today. This category covers the new quantum-resistant algorithms, solutions that find every place you use cryptography (a cryptographic inventory), crypto-agility platforms that let you swap algorithms without rewriting apps, and solutions that plan and run the migration. The urgency comes from "harvest now, decrypt later": attackers can copy encrypted data today and read it once a capable quantum machine exists. For most teams the first step is the inventory, because you cannot migrate what you cannot see. Quantum key distribution and quantum random number hardware have their own subcategory.

## How to choose Post-Quantum Cryptography solutions

- Start with a cryptographic inventory. Find every certificate, key, library, and protocol that uses RSA or elliptic-curve cryptography before you plan the migration.
- Confirm PQC implementations follow the final NIST standards (ML-KEM, ML-DSA, SLH-DSA) rather than early drafts, and that hybrid classical-plus-PQC modes are supported.
- Check how well it connects to your certificate authorities, HSMs, and key management systems, since the migration breaks if these do not work together.
- Look for real crypto-agility: the ability to swap algorithms through policy without re-architecting applications.
- Favor solutions that produce an auditable cryptographic bill of materials and tie findings to a migration plan, since regulators and boards will ask to see both.

## Post-Quantum Cryptography Solutions FAQ

Common questions about Post-Quantum Cryptography solutions: how to choose, pricing and comparisons.

### What is post-quantum cryptography?

Post-quantum cryptography is a set of new encryption and signature algorithms built to resist attacks from quantum computers. They run on ordinary computers and networks, so no special hardware is needed. NIST has published the first standards: ML-KEM for key exchange, and ML-DSA and SLH-DSA for digital signatures. PQC solutions help you adopt these algorithms and move off the old ones.

### How is post-quantum cryptography different from quantum key distribution?

Post-quantum cryptography uses new math that runs on ordinary computers and resists quantum attacks. You can deploy it in software today. Quantum key distribution (QKD) uses the physics of light to exchange keys over dedicated hardware and links, and it detects eavesdropping at the physical layer. QKD suits a small number of high-assurance links and sits in the Quantum Key Distribution & QRNG subcategory.

### Do I need post-quantum solutions now, or can this wait?

The full migration can wait, but the discovery work should not. The risk is harvest now, decrypt later: attackers capture encrypted data today to read once quantum computers can break it. Anything that must stay secret for years, like health records, state secrets, or intellectual property, is exposed now. Building a cryptographic inventory and a migration plan is the sensible first step.

### What is crypto-agility?

Crypto-agility means you can change the algorithms your systems use through policy or configuration, without rebuilding each app. It matters because standards will keep changing. A weak algorithm found later should not mean another multi-year project. Solutions here map where each algorithm is used and help you switch it in one place.

### Is open-source post-quantum cryptography enough, or do I need a commercial solution?

Open-source libraries like Open Quantum Safe give engineers working PQC algorithms and are good for building and testing. Commercial solutions earn their place around those algorithms: finding every place cryptography lives across your estate, managing certificates and keys at scale, enforcing crypto-agility policy, and connecting to HSMs and certificate authorities. Most enterprises use both: libraries for the math and a platform for the program.
